This year NAMI DuPage celebrates its 20th birthday.  We are reaching out to the community in new and exciting ways. NAMI has joined forces with schools in the DuPage area to promote early identification of mental illness and intervention. We are educating parents and teachers about the signs and symptoms of mental illness in children. At the same time that we educate parents and teachers, we also reduce the stigma associated with mental illness. We are breaking the silence that for too long has surrounded mental illness.

We need your assistance so that we can continue to grow and help families and individuals struggling with mental illness. As we reach out to the community, the demands for our programs grow. We have expanded our family education programs, Family-to-Family and NAMI Basics.  In the past year we have made progress:

• We have reached out to over 3,000 people in our community,
• We have started a consumer driven recovery class, Peer-to-Peer,
• We have educated the Naperville Police Department through In Our Own Voice programs, presented by individuals in recovery,
• We continue to collaborate with special recreation associations to run drop-in centers in Westmont and Naperville,
• We collaborate with the Dupage County Health Department to provide housing and prevocational training.
