Angela Adkins, grew up in London, UK and moved with her husband and two young children to the USA 20 years ago.  After living just outside San Francisco for the past 17 years Angela and her family moved to Glen Ellyn, three years ago. Although family and friends are many miles away Angela is fortunate that she is able to visit England a couple of times a year. Angela received her B.A in Business Administration from St. Mary’s College of Moraga, CA. She has been a business owner importing gift ware from around the world and ran a mail order business. She joined NAMI DuPage in the development department with a special emphasis on fundraising, something Angela has been doing for the past thirty years. She became Executive Director in April of 2009.

When she is not working Angela enjoys traveling, entertaining, reading and spending time with her family. Angela and her husband Tony have been married for 24 years and have a son Andrew 22, and daughter Anne-Marie 20.  Andrew is a senior at Colorado University at Boulder and Anne-Marie is taking classes at C.O.D.

Angela has experienced mental illness with a number of family members and wishes that NAMI had been around for her and her family.  She knows how important the support and help NAMI is able to give to families and people living with a mental illness, and what a difference NAMI is making to people every day.

Angela has been a Rotarian for the past ten years and will become President of Wheaton Rotary Club next year.  One of Angela’s other passions is to help raise funds for the Wheelchair Foundation, and through Rotary has been on numerous Wheelchair deliveries to Chile and Mexico, traveling to remote areas to give people mobility.

Angela loves her job at NAMI DuPage and wants to continue the great work that has been done over the past twenty-five years.
