Volunteer Oportunities

Hello NAMI DuPage Supporters! We are a grass-roots organization, and\ volunteers have always been the heart and soul of NAMI. We have a variety of volunteer needs to fill, but we are particularly looking for volunteers in three areas:

Help Line Volunteers: We are looking for empathetic, caring volunteers to answer calls to our help line. The help line is often the first way that people come into contact with NAMI, so our help line volunteers are very important! You would be a great fit for this job if you are a family member or consumer that knows about the mental health care system through experience, if you are a mental health professional, or if you are eager to learn more about mental health. Help line volunteers will be trained and must commit to volunteering for at least 6 months. Our primary need for helpline volunteers is to staff the phones on weekday afternoons.

Speaker's Bureau Members: Speaker's Bureau members are consumers and family members that speak about their personal experiences with mental illness to educate and reach out to others in the community. Our members tell powerful stories which are always the highlight of our educational presentations. If you are interested in being a member of Speaker's Bureau, we will train you and do our best to accommodate your busy schedule.

GiftWorks Volunteers: GiftWorks is a program that we use for creating a database of donors, members, and other contacts. We are looking for computer-savvy volunteers that either know about GiftWorks, or would be interested in learning how to use a new program. If you already have experience with Microsoft Access or mail merges, that would be ideal!
