The mission of the NAMI DuPage Outreach Committee is to raise awareness about mental illness through attending social events, hosting fundraisers, and creating lasting partnerships in the communities we serve.
Doing this provides the unique opportunity for people to learn what our organization has to provide individuals with a mental illness and their family members so they may improve the quality of their lives.

With 15 staff members who primarily work part-time, it becomes hard to reach out to everyone who need our services.
You might not realize it, but there is already have a vast, existing network of people and places you see or go to on a weekly basis.
Mental illness does not just affect a select few. Our goal is to touch anyone and everyone we can from all walks of life. This can be accomplished a number of different ways and the possibilities are endless.

NAMI is looking for those who have empathetic and caring qualities to answer phone calls coming in to our HelpLine. Often this is the first way someone comes into contact with NAMI making these people invaluable.
Individuals with mental illness or their family members are often good candidates for this opportunity due to their experiences.
This position does include orientation about our organization and learning the phone system. We ask those interested in volunteer for a commitment of at least 6 months.

GiftWorks is the database platform our organization uses to manage memberships and donations. This program enables our organization to track donor contributions so we can send thank you letters and provide tax receipts. Those who enjoy data entry that have a skilled eye for detail and basic computers skills would excel in this role. We are looking for persons with availability on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in the late morning to afternoon that can regularly come in each week. All who are interested in this opportunity will be invited in to meet with the GiftWorks Manager.
