Hospitals that Treat the Mentally Ill

Those listed provide twenty-four hour, seven days per week staff for severe psychiatric problems. Information is included about day treatment and partial hospitalization programs. You are urged to call a hospital to inquire about other services, such as substance abuse programs.

Inpatient, partial and intensive outpatient hospitalization for adolescents, children, adults, and older adults.
Specialty programs in self-injury, eating disorders, hearing impaired, chemical dependency, and clinical research trials.

Inpatient, partial hospital program, and outpatient programs for adults and adolescents.

Inpatient only. Services adults 18 years or older only. State operated.

24-hour Access Center.  Full continuum of services from inpatient to outpatient counseling.

Free Assessment & Referral Services. Inpatient, outpatient and partial hospitalization treatment programs for adults, geriatrics and adolescents. Dual Diagnosis Services; Behavioral Health Education Classes; Stress Management; Active Parenting; Speaker's Bureau.

MacNeal Hospital offers inpatient, intensive outpatient, and partial hospital programs for the adult community, including patients with general mental health and adjustment issues, substance abuse, coexisting mental health and addiction issues, and geriatric-related mental health needs. Ongoing recovery is offered through the Continuing Care Program .

Child, adolescent, adult & geriatric outpatient, inpatient, and partial hospitalization services. Inpatient services for chronic patients. Outpatient addiction services.

Partial hospitalization for adults, adolescents, and older adults.

Inpatient, partial and outpatient hospitalization for adults, adolescents, and children.

The psychiatric day hospital program treats high functioning adults with primary affective, anxiety and personality disorders. The chemical dependency program for professionals and non-professionals integrates the treatment program into a daily living routine emphasizing self-responsibility and accountability. Individuals from both programs live in an independent living community in nearby apartments. Call for other locations.

SBHC specializes in the behavioral health needs of children and adolescents. Free behavioral health assessments to all youth. Services include: support groups, outpatient treatment/assessments, intensive outpatient programs, partial hospitalization, inpatient hospitalization and residential services.

Inpatient, outpatient and partial hospital program for children adolescents adults, and seniors. Post-partum depression group. Outpatient chemical dependency program for adults and adolescents. Free assessments.

* Note:  if hospitalization at a public facility (Elgin Mental Health Center) is being considered, the initial assessment must be done by the Health Department Access and Crisis Center, 627-1700.
